How I Run my three years old Android Smartphone Xperia M Dual as Smoothly as New with great Battery backup, Read More
Today people are throwing away their Android smartphones after using it for one year or a maximum of two years because of hanging problems/ Slow performance or low battery backup. This cycles continues, and all tries to upgrade to new models every year. But did you ever think about repairing you phone after one year, if it's performance or battery back up is not good as the one you bought one year back. Everybody want new technologies every year, so everyone is using their smartphones only for an year with them.
In this article I am saying about my three year old Smartphone which is still my primary phone. yes a three years old Xperia M Dual Sim version is my primary smartphone. I tried to replace my phone a year ago, but some how it doesn't happen. SO Still I am using my Xperia M Dual smoothly by simple tricks.
Before talking about the tricks I want to tell something about my Xperia M Dual, I bought the item when it was launched in India for about 190$. It's software was officially upgraded to 4.3 Jelly Bean and it has a strong XDA Developer support and I can run latest Android Lollipop in my device. May be Android 7 Nougat will also be available for Xperia M in Future. Great thanks to XDA developers.
Let's go to the tips for now
- The most frustrating things in Android smartphone is the bloat-wares, that is unwanted applications pre-installed in your smartphone. So I un installed almost all bloat-wares
- Some system applications cannot be un installed like Google drive, hangout, Google play movies etc. So I disabled all the system applications that I am not planning to use in future like Google Drive, Google hangout, Google Play Movies, Newstand from application list.
- Then i turned off automatic application update from google play store ( I also turned off update over Wifi ). Because when new update is available for you app it will automatically install the update and consume more Ram. For example in my smartphone Google chrome only consume a maximum of 10 MB disk space. But if I updated it to the newest version it will consume almost 100 MB of my disk space and consume more ram. same thing for facebook.
- When ever my smartphone become unstable like hanging I just backup all my data to sd card and do a system restore with internal memory wipe from settings. So I will get a smooth Smartphone as I used it for the first time.
- If you are a advanced user you can unlock your bootloader and Install custom Roms like CyanogenMod. I tried both CM11,CM12 and CM 13 for my phone. And the OS is smooth and stable. But the battery backup was not good as Sony's own OS. That is the only reason I am still using Jelly Bean version for my Xperia M Dual even though CM13 with Android Marshmallow is available for the device.
What was the battery backup you are getting after three years of usage. And compare it with the data from three years back
