This Getting started PTC Creo Parametric 3.0 Tutorial will guide you the menu's and tool bars in Creo parametric 3.0 and basic settings and there application while designing a 3D part model. This include how to open Creo parametric, various basic graphics tool bars, saving a file , opening a file etc.
Starting Creo parametric in Windows
Creo Parametric 3.0 will Run in almost all Windows versions including Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10. Windows XP is not supported for Creo parametric 3.0 . If you are a student and studying Creo parametric you can download a free copy of Creo Parametric as I mentioned earlier or you can watch the video on Youtube. It's absolutely free for educational purpose.After Installing Creo parametric you can see the shortcut of the software created on your desktop. You can double click on the icon and open the software.
if the shortcut is not visible on your desktop you can open it from your start menu,
All programs > PTC Creo > Creo parametric 3.0 from the start menu ( If you installed version 2.0 click on Creo parametric 2.0 )
Or you can simply search the software name Creo in the search bar of Windows 7/ 8/8.1/10
The opened window will look like below mentioned picture

The software window will not be opened in maximized state. You don't need to maximize the window, because the space left is for tool bars. Newly opened tool bars will be located at the right corner. if you maximize the window the tool bars may be hidden underneath

Graphic user Interface (GUI)
There are several areas in Creo parametric GUI, consists graphics window, in graphics toolbar, Quick access toolbar, Dashboard etc.
Graphic Window
The working area of Creo Parametric is known as Graphics window where you create and modify models such as parts, assemblies and drawings
In graphics Toolbar
It is located at the top of graphics window. Commonly used tools are shown in this window like panning, Zoom in Zoom out various views like Top, Side and isometric views.
Quick Access Toolbar
By default it can be seen at the top of the interface. it contain quick tools like new part, Saving current part/assembly drawing,undo and redo. it can be customized by user.
Ribbon
Ribbons are introduced into creo parametric since Creo 2.0. Major tools required to part modeling and assembly are located in ribbons.
Dashboard
Dashboard will appear when you create or edit a feature. you can instantly preview the changes on the screen
Message Log
It provides you with prompts, feedback, and messages from Creo parametricMenu manager
it is a floating menu bar that expands as required, to guide you the options as you work. It will appear at the right side as you use certain functions[post_ads]

Model Tree
The model tree contains all the parts and features drawn in creo parametric in the order they were drawn. You can edit the parts and features from this model tree easily and hide/ unhide certain parts when required. You can name the features or parts to identify in future when you require an editing. You can use it for
- Visualize model features/assembly components
- Visualize feature order/component assembly order
- Selecting a feature or component in the model tree
- Editing the feature
Feat # : Displays the feature number of each feature in the model tree. the first feature created will have number one and so on.
Feat ID : Displays the feature ID of each feature. It is unique for each feature create in the Creo parametric

Setting the Working Directory
The working directory in Creo parametric is the location for saving and opening files created using Creo parametric. To set up new working directory follow the below steps
File > Manage Session > Select Working Directory
Browse the folder and select a folder to save future Creo parametric files to save.
